Best Wind Direction - EAST, SOUTH EAST, SOUTH.
Wind is generally onshore on the ocean in a south east but on the lagoon it is offshore and very steady, producing the flattest water imaginable. On the low tide the sand banks are more exposed which produces some sick grinding opportunities. Witsands is perfect for executing the latest in wake style and freestyle tricks and it is also the training grounds for many speed sailors.
If you do tire of the flat water after a while you can tack out of the bay and into the ocean where there's some small waves to play in.
This year iKiteboarding.com headed up there again and the crew included Matthias Larsen, Alex Aitkenhead, Carlo, and Andrew / Jessica from Xelerator.
Matthias was pimpimg the latest Turbo Diesel from Slingshot and proved that the bow kites can hold up to the latest in unhooked wake style tricks.

Out of the 4 days we stayed there we had 3 days of wind. The First and Last day was the best - with the prevailing South Easterleys being offshore on the lagoon or onshore in the ocean. The westerleys are cross shore in the lagoon and can be very gusty. The South Easterleys on the east coast normally peaks in the lower to mid twenties during mid day and then slowly dies down in the evening. Evenings are warm and windless, which is good for classic summer outdoor braais after a good day on the water with your friends.
