Welcome fellow kiteboarder or beach traveler. After living in the garden route for some years I discovered that the wind in this region has a split personality where it can be gale force in one town and literally breathless 24km away in another town in the same region at the same time. This was the result of valleys, bays, and mountains all verging on different points out in the open sea. Therefore after much frustration I realized to offer local knowledge to everyone would grow our great sport and help the weary traveler when passing through. There is also Kiteboarding accommodation on the pages to help you to save money if possible. There is also useful hints to wind direction and beaches as well as possible dangers that lurk. There is also some info on the locals that value their territory, so remember keep a healthy attitude for all as that will keep it free for all of us. Technically the Garden Route Kiteboarding/Kitesurfing region is from Mossel Bay to Plettenberg Bay, but I have included other regions for growth in the near future. This region is not regulated yet, so freedom here is precious to us, so enjoy the trip and have fun. Naish team riders visit us. Buffalo bay and Knysna kiteboarding beaches have been cooking this year in Jan 2008. I am now in Spain so very jealous. Plettenberg Bay news from Clayton is that the wind has not been that good in the Plett area so the lads have to travel down to Knysna to get the fix! VIEW THE PICTURES!! |
